i'm gonna be a diamond some day

poetry & soundscape EP

This EP, I’m Gonna Be a Diamond Someday, brings together two poetry-led sound works themed around inheritance. Both tracks explore the elements carried through families, bodies and places; and what remains after the people and landscapes that shaped us are gone. Coal Suite excavates the lasting imprint of Scotland’s mining heritage through the lens of personal family history, using poetry, lullabies and industrial sound to confront class grievance and the ritual presence of the dead. Germline turns inward to the maternal line, exploring the strange doubleness of being both a daughter and a mother, and the idea that three generations can, for a time, exist within one body. This EP works savage sorcery on the cinders that exist inside each of us, from our collective pasts into something intimate, physical and very much still alive.
